Playful like a slalom carver, robust like a racecarver: Nordica Dobermann Spitfire

Only the best is good enough for the professionals. Ski manufacturers often put a lot of brain grease into their equipment so that their athletes can get the decisive fraction of a second out of it and always find new ways to improve their performance. This also benefits us recreational skiers. After all, many developments from professional sport are gradually finding their way into recreational sport.

Nordica, which has celebrated numerous World Cup successes with athletes such as Felix Neureuther, Fritz Dopfer and Dominik Paris, is also constantly tinkering with the optimisation of its equipment. Many of these innovations were applied last winter in the completely reworked top giant slalom and slalom skis from Nordica's Dobermann series for very sporty hobby racers.

This winter Nordica is following up and with the completely revised series Nordica Dobermann Spitfire is making the latest technical developments available to riders who are not slalom or giant slalom specialists, but who value versatility in terms of both radii and slope conditions.

What makes the Nordica Dobermann Spitfire so special?

The shovel and the radius: Dynamic Race Shovel

The shovels of the new Dobermann Spitfire are longer, flatter and wider than the shovels of traditional FIS racecars. At the same time, the shovels, like the ski ends, are reinforced with light yet very torsion-resistant carbon inserts. This combination has several positive effects:

The extended shovel makes the ski less aggressive, increases balance, helps prevent blending and guarantees smooth turn initiation and precise and controlled control. Because the shovel is longer, but quite wide in relation to the rest of the ski and therefore functions almost like a slalom shovel, you don't have to do without a powerful and dynamic curve from the first moment. In combination with the carbon reinforcement, the Nordica Dobermann Spitfire offer perfect edge grip right into the shovel. And as the radius behind the shovel increases, the skis allow both long carving turns and fast, short turns.

The construction: Race Bridge and Carbon Chassis

The construction also contributes to the perfect edge grip and dynamics. The extremely good ratio of weight to torsional stiffness is particularly impressive. The World Cup-inspired Race Bridge Construction made of a solid wood core and two Titanal layers stretched over the edges provides stability over the entire ski length.

The Dobermann Carbon Chassis, on the other hand, features carbon-reinforced fiberglass inlays that run over the entire length of the ski for a considerable weight reduction without reducing the edge grip. The result is a ski that is both playful and smooth like a racing ski.

The binding system: The Recoil Power Plate

The Recoil Power Plate, with its World Cup-inspired design for a natural and smooth flex, noticeably dampens all vibrations, improves edge grip and power transmission.

All these ingredients combined result in skis that run very stable and are very playful and agile at the same time, making them equally suitable for high-speed carving as well as for relaxed and energy-saving cruising. In short: skis that are fun all day long.

The difference in the Spitfire trilogy is the different middle widths and the resulting different widths of the shovels and ski ends.

Nordica Dobermann Spitfire 72 RB: Fast and precise

The Nordica Dobermann Spitfire72 RB is the narrowest, fastest and most precise ski of the new Spitfire line. With it, Nordica has succeeded in developing a ski with racing ambitions that will delight advanced skiers all day long. Its full potential unfolds above all on prepared, hard or even icy pistes, but also gets through the inevitable afternoon corn snow loosely.

Nordica Dobermann Spitfire 76 RB: Versatile and agile

The Nordica Dobermann Spitfire76 RB is for all advanced to very good skiers looking for a more versatile and forgiving carving ski. Its oversized tip, wide ski end and 76 mm waist let you carve surprisingly relaxed and easy on prepared slopes but also through the softer snow. Inspired by the World Cup, but tuned for construction so that you can easily dust through any terrain all day with lots of fun and a permanent smile on your face. If you want a lot of fun without too much effort, the Nordica Dobermann Spitfire 76 RB is your ski.

Nordica Dobermann Spitfire Ti: Smooth and playful

Like all models of the Spitfire family, the Nordica Dobermann Spitfire Ti is a high-performance carving ski for all who love groomed slopes. Due to the wood core construction with a metal layer, it is not quite as aggressive and therefore smoother to ski. If you're looking for a versatile carving ski that's fun and easy to ski, the Spitfire Ti is for you.
