New ski boots? Do the fit check!

The right size is the first step to ensuring a good fit. So that you don't choose your ski boot too big, here are a few tips in our fit check.

Take the insole out of the liner and stand on it

If the length of the insole fits and you have inserted the liner with the insole back into the outer shell, step into the ski boot and close the buckles with light pressure. If you now straighten your knee and stand straight, you may have contact with the shoe in the toe area. With a slight forward position (ski position), no contact should be felt in the toe area. The heel should be firmly fixed if the size is suitable.

What ski length do I have to choose?

Ski lengths depend on the skiing ability, weight and preferences (skiing style) of the skier, as well as the design of the ski. For these reasons, it is hardly possible to make general recommendations. As a guide, however, one can say:

Children's skis:
Depending on the age and skiing ability of the children, about chest to maximum chin height.

Absolute ski beginners:
Recommendations Absolute ski beginners should choose a ski length about 20 cm below height.

Advanced skiers:
Depending on your skiing style, a ski length of 15cm and 5cm under body height is recommended.

Expert skiers:
For experts, a strong distinction must be made between the selected ski models and the preferences of the skier:

Racecarvers, allround carvers, allmountain skis and skiercross models
These types of skis are usually skied at a maximum body length to a minimum height of -10 cm.

RS racing skis
RS racing skis are skied at least body-length.

Slalomcarver
Slalom carvers can be skied in any length. The shorter the ski, the more snappy it becomes. The longer it lasts, the more all-rounder it skis. However, it makes little sense to go beyond height.

What ski pole length do I need?

The ski pole length depends on your height:

Pole length  Height
70 cm    bis 103 cm
75 cm 104 - 110 cm
80 cm 111 - 117 cm
85 cm 118 - 124 cm

ATTENTION! Sporty skiers should choose the ski poles 5cm shorter!
